About Lisa

Lisa is a Level 4 Certified Speech Level Singing teacher. Her passion for the art of singing, and her innate ability to relate to her students and guide them to their potential make her a powerful teacher.

Lisa works with vocalists and entertainers of all genres. She holds fast to her overall goal of helping her students to find vocal freedom through the SLS technique.

"I began studying piano at age 8 and voice at age 14. At Duke University I minored in music and vocal studies and continued singing throughout the years in oratorios, opera, and musical theater. But I was always frustrated with the inconsistency of both my singing and the training I received. One teacher would tell me one thing and I would end up with a dark, mezzo sound but with intonation problems. Another would tell me something else and I would end up with a light soprano sound but with a very fast and wide vibrato. Nevertheless, I tried my hand at teaching and was frustrated with my inability to obtain consistent results from my students. And no wonder - I had never been taught how to have consistent vocal results myself.

Then I discovered the method of Speech Level Singing. I sat outside a SLS teacher’s studio near San Francisco and listened to her teach; I had one of those great "ah-hah" moments in life. This was the only method of teaching I had ever heard or had explained to me that made logical and physiological sense! And I heard immediate results in her students.

Shortly thereafter I entered the Speech Level Singing teacher training program. Within a few months my vocal issues were well on the way to being resolved and I was learning to teach the method as well.

One of the most important aspects of the Speech Level Singing program is that all certified teachers are required to have ongoing vocal lessons themselves, as well as hours of teacher training. When was the last time your singing teacher had a voice lesson?"
